an advocate for the people. He gets the job done.
- Yulanda Hugh, City Resident
I moved to Frederick with my wife Stacey in 1997, and have raised my three daughters—Halle, Zoe, and Gabby—here in the city. Over the years I have watched our city grow, bringing both new opportunities and big challenges.
I am running for mayor because we have lacked strong leadership and vision in the city of Frederick for far too long. I want to change that.
Overcoming the challenges before us requires a comprehensive, community-focused approach. By working together, we can move Frederick forward, while preserving and investing in what already makes us great.
We must create an innovative approach to economic development and planning, one that includes all of Frederick’s diverse communities. We must put a greater emphasis on our health and human services, so that every citizen can receive the help they need, when they need it. We must modernize city services to respond to the changing needs of residents and businesses, and invest in technology across city agencies to improve efficiency and increase transparency. And we need to do all of this while adopting accountable 21st century policing practices, building affordable housing, and addressing our city’s digital divide.
This is not an easy task. But it is a vital one. And together—as one Frederick—I know that there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey, because every voice counts. The Democratic primary is on September 14, 2021. Let’s get to work!
